One of the points of Keep Oppo Weird, from the earliest days, was to keep Oppo from having a topic by promoting general ADHD and confusion. We're more consistently on topic "car" than we used to be.

And much of Planelopnik. It's the compartmentalization that comes along with Kinja. With hashtags, everybody shared everything here, and it was cool. Now it's 90% about cars, and people apologize when they post something non-car related. I always tell them not to apologize. I think Cigar Lounge is a great idea, because it gives people a place for super non-car related stuff, political rants, etc. But general weirdness that the community might enjoy needs to stay in Oppo.

I certainly don't bother to confine myself to car posts, but at the same time, some of us spend enough effort reposting car news site blurbs it makes it almost a topic Reddit around here sometimes. Which... there's an Oppo reddit. Seriously? Go, my son, and post there. Meanwhile, here, more #beerlopnik, more #planelopnik, more #trainlopnik, more #movielopnik, more keeping up with busness, etc. - things need to be a mix.

What's funny about "off topic" is that there's not supposed to be a topic in the first place.
Tomorrow, I'm launching a new tag: KOOT. Keep Oppo Off Topic. It doesn't mean that we turn this into Facebook. But there have been too many car posts lately. We're in danger of getting stodgy.
